Hound Dog Breeds

Hounds hunt by sight (sighthounds) or by scent (scent hounds), and both were bred to work independently, away from a handler. That makes them loving but selectively deaf, especially off-leash, the moment a scent or a fleeing squirrel takes over. The training priorities are patient long-line recall work, high-value rewards, and realistic expectations around prey drive.

Every hound breed, with its own 12-week plan.
