Spitz and primitive breeds, think Akita, Shiba Inu, Husky-type and ancient landraces, are independent, intelligent and famously aloof, bred to think for themselves rather than take orders. They bond deeply but rarely live to please. The training priorities are to build genuine trust, make cooperation worth their while, keep containment secure, and never rely on an off-leash recall you have not thoroughly proofed.
